Automotive Tips clutch replacement – Dos and Don’ts
After several years in technical support of a company that sells the manual, I have worked with many clients, the coupling assembly errors that they spoke at a high price in terms of time, money and frustration. This article is not a substitute for a good car repair manual that the vehicle is designed to operate on you! If none of these tips contradict the information in your owner’s manual, followed by the service instead of manual.
Tip # 1: lubrication in all the right places (and none of the wrong place!) Do not put grease on the wheel, the clutch disc or pressure plate. It only costs a few dollars, and the risk that the transfer to withdraw because of a clutch chatter is not worth the money you save.
Tip # 2: Replace the pilot bearing or bushing. If you say you do not have a special extractor tool driver, some services of the old old stock eliminated by packing the cavity behind the bearing with grease and with a wooden dowel or shaft entry old hard drive.
Tip # 3: Do not force! If the transfer does not slide all the way to the back of the bellhousing, transmission bellhousing not establish by tightening the screws Transmission to bellhousing. If the clutch disc is released, it moves so that the transfer will be aligned with the bearing driver.
Before the completion of your first clutch replacement, I recommend reading the full procedure in a factory or a service manual service manual. Even if you are a veteran, it does not hurt to take a look at a service manual if you replace a clutch in a vehicle you do not know.
